Avian & Exotic Pets
Care for Birds, Reptiles & Mammals in Palmyra
At Palmyra Animal Clinic, our veterinarians offer routine wellness and preventive care services for your bird or other exotic pet. Exotic pets can also be treated for medical or behavioral concerns.
- Wellness & Preventive Care
Similar to cats and dogs, regular preventive veterinary care can help birds and other exotic pets live long, happy and healthy lives. Our veterinarians are trained to provide care and look after husbandry needs and veterinary treatment of these species.
During your pet's initial wellness visit, we will review your pet's housing, nutrition and care needs in detail. The vet will perform a complete and thorough physical exam. We can also discuss and recommend health screening tests and vaccines, along with health or behavior concerns and any husbandry issues before answering any questions you may have. Recommendations will be tailored to the needs of your pet and their family.
- Sick Pet Appointments & Daytime Emergencies
Our vets can examine birds and other exotic pets with health or behavior concerns. If possible, please call (717) 838-5451 in advance to determine when an appointment is available. While we do accept walk-in and walk-in emergencies for exotic pets, a double booking of appointments may warrant an additional fee.
- After Hours Emergencies
Our hospital is fully equipped to meet the needs of critically sick birds and other exotic pets. Our Emergency Services is staffed by a team of veterinarians, registered veterinary technicians, and support staff.
If possible, please call in advance to determine if a vet is available to evaluate your exotic pet.
If your veterinarian finds that your pet requires a procedure or expertise that we do not offer at Palmyra Animal Clinic, we can refer you to an experienced exotic pet specialist in the area. We are connected to a network of exceptional veterinary specialists.
